In recent months I have been busy as co-author of Basiskennis Requirements, THE book that makes requirements engineering and requirements management accessible to a wide audience of IT professionals.

Basiskennis Requirements is in fact the successor to Grip op Requirements, the book that for many years has been the successful companion of anyone who followed training to obtain the IREB CPRE (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering) Foundation Level certificate. Due to the thorough revision of this certification program in October 2020, Grip was no longer suitable for this. So something new had to come. The changes from Grip were so fundamental that it was decided to release a whole new book. To this end, two of the original Grip authors, Jan Jaap Cannegieter and Johan Zandhuis, and two members of the IREB working group who revised the CPRE FL program, namely Stefan Staal and I, have joined forces.

The new Basiskennis Requirements is firmly based on the IREB CPRE FL syllabus 3.0, the Handbook CPRE FL 1.0 and the Glossary 2.0. These sources have been translated and combined. In addition, the book is enriched with numerous practical experiences of the authors, clear illustrations and sample questions for the exam, including explanations. The manuscript is now ready; publisher Eburon is up to turn it into a tangible book.
